Volume 13: A Look into Afrotech 2018; On meeting Backstage Capital’s Arlan Hamilton, gems from Everett Taylor, and why we’re looking forward to Afrotech 2019

November 8-11, 2018 Afrotech returned to San Francisco for another year. Fredia and Jena made the mandatory mission across the Bay Bridge to The Palace of Fine Arts to join 3,998 other black folks for the biggest and blackest tech conference the world’s ever seen. Afrotech was an ocean of community, a tidal wave of black success. Both hosts were mesmerized by the abundance of folks who flew in from around the world: CEO’s, coders, entrepreneurs, investors, designers, and innovators packed the venue from wall to wall.

Volume 12: A look into Building Local Partnerships @ Women’s Audio Mission’s 15 Year Anniversary

With any business, passion project, or side hustle the need for partnership is persistent and real. In this episode Jena and Fredia talk through the methodology for securing their first local partner: how they conceptualized the pitch, the services they offered, and what they guaranteed their client.  In this case, the client was Women's Audio Mission (WAM), a Bay Area-based nonprofit dedicated to advancing women in music production and the recording arts.

St. Louis born and bred, Adrian walks us through the days following the death of Mike Brown and how that day lead to the self-publishing of his book "My Lens, Our Ferguson." A documentation of the Ferguson protests, My Lens, Our Ferguson later went on to be shortlisted for the Paris Photo-Aperture First PhotoBook award.

Volume 9: A Look into Living Debt Free; How minimalist living can maximize your peace

This week Fredia and Jena sit down with Roe of @brownkids. Roe and her partner "E" document their pursuit of personal freedom via Instagram to a community of 26k followers. Both Roe and E are minimalists. Their goal? To identify ways to be free of financial debt and full of personal joy and peace.
